Ideas for Use

Vocabulary Cards List - Suggestions for Use

  • Make 'silly sentences' using these vocabulary flashcards sets.  For example - adjective/noun/verb/adverb - boring dinosaurs gallop slowly, or just adjective/noun as in slimy frogs, or noun/verbas in dinosaurs dance.  There are so many different combinations.

  • Fantastic for reference with concept books - 'I Can see a....', 'Look at the....' and 'Here is a.....

  • Works well as reference with similes - as _______ as a ________.

  • Don't forget you can print these words in many different sizes using your printer settings.   Print a class copy onto coloured card and laminate for long term use - a different colour card for each group of words is ideal.

  • Again, we have included labels to help with storage.  Add these groups of English vocabulary words to your ever-growing class collection of printable flashcards /word cards stored in hanging pockets, or labelled boxes for easy access.

  • All the activities from '101 Ways to Use Word Cards' are fantastic with these english vocabulary words..
(DON'T FORGET TO UTILIZE THIS FANTASTIC RESOURCE)

  • There are many more adjectives, nouns, verbs and adverbs.  Brainstorm more as a class or in groups and pop them onto the spare blank cards provided in each section.

  • There are heaps of phonics opportunities with these words....play around with them - match them with phonics printables - what patterns can the children find, circle the patterns, colour them in - make it fun.  Print off small size black and white copies to do this.

  • You can make these words smaller size by using the reduction settings on your printer and just printing off black and white copies, these smaller sizes are great for cut and paste activities such as cutting out the words and matching rhyming words, and opposites, as well as alphabetical order and making their own 'silly sentences' as mentioned above.

  • Use these words as a fantastic reference for the children's own writing.

  • Hi im a volunteer at the Space and Technology Museum in Carnarvon while im teaching here and last week i leant them my laminated posters of your planets. you wouldn't beleive the amount of people visiting the museum who just loved them. They were close to the entrance of the museum and eveyone stopped to look at them first. We have many families who are travelling around Australia stop by and they have children in tow...often havent been to school for 3 months or so but they just love your posters that i have made. Im going to have to do another set as the museum which is manned by volunteers only doesnt want to give them up now. i hope you dont mind. Your logo k-3 teacher resource is still on the bottom of every poster i made up and so it is acknowledged.

  • Teaching KPP is easy. What i did at the beginning of the year is plan for both groups in small group time. Have the EA take the kindy's some days and you the PP and swap around on other days. Have large group where you are all doing the same thing and then split the group for development ability type activities. The EA is a godsend and if you have a parent or two as well who can help at table rotation time its fantastic. When doing the phonic sounds just do harder activities for the PP where the K are just sighting them sometimes for the first time. Simplify their activities. Both PP and K love the music and movement so not hard there and art and craft is pretty similar too. You'll find those who want to learn to read will be ready before you know it and there might even be some Kindy kids who want to do this too depending on their family background. You tube all ages love so use it and IWB activities lots. Good Luck!! and enjoy and tell the Year 1 and 2 teachers they cant have them they're yours!!
