Storage ideas for words and activities printed off website
Submitted by Donna (05-11-2012)
I am a casual teacher and have been teaching since the 70's. Your methods are very similar to my early years of teaching. Great stuff.
I teach preschool to grade 6 as a casual and I would love some ideas for storing all the activities I have printed and used off your site.
I need to access them quickly early morning when I receive the call-out.
Hoping you might have some suggestions - thanking you so much and keep up the fantastic work....
COULD YOU PLEASE SHARE YOUR STORAGE IDEAS....THANKS

With a year one class we played What's the Time Mr Wolf - but instead of the wolf (myself) calling out 'It's one o'clock!" I used a clock with moveable hands.

I was just thinking the other day that I needed some matching cards for numbers over 100 then today I came across the new parts of speech posters and thought I\'d check out the \"What\'s New\" section and there I found exactly what I had been wanting. Thank you so much for your wonderful resources. This is the first place I check when looking for resources and I\'ve been able to build a great collection since moving to the lower school grades last year. Thanks again!

What others are saying...
Old VHS video covers! I store a lot of my everyday cards in these, label the spine and they fit neatly onto book shelves in alphabetical order. This doesn't work for the larger cards but is handy for small sight words, 100 squares etc.
Here are some of my suggestions.
I keep each resource in a separate, zip-lock bag. They don't take up much room, but keep the resources safe, and prevent cards or other small items from falling out.
Another thing you can buy, which is slightly more expensive, are plastic document folders that come in various colours. You can even get some with special holes on the edge so they can fit into ring binders. These are great for storing class sets of worksheets etc.
If you could find a way of colour coding for each KLA that might also help. If you use plastic document folders, then that part is easy, or where possible, you might want to copy your maths resources onto yellow card, English onto green, etc.
Finally, get a different bag for each stage of school. (You can probably put ES1 and S1 together) that can easily hold the resources and keep them safe.
This way, when you get the call in the morning, you can just grab the bag and run out the door.
I hope this helps!
I have my resources in different coloured folders...As per stage...then subject. I use a trolley on wheels for work and the folders fit in perfectly.
