Show and Tell and Share Time

Great website, you guys are my rock!!
This is my second year teaching Prep and I have allocated show and tell groups for each day of the week other than Wednesdays.
The children are able to 'tell' anything exciting they wish but may only 'show' something they have found or made. We have our 'Show and Tell' after lunch as the children are ready to relax and chill out for a bit. They begin sitting in a circle with a formal 'hello' to everyone and give us as much information as possible about the item they are 'showing'.
The other children may then ask questions, only those that are relevant and that we don't already know the answer to eg, if the child sharing has told us they found the feather on the beach we cannot ask 'Where did you find it??'. This teaches them quickly the difference between questions and statements.
It has worked very well and makes the children think about what they would like to bring along instead of the latest fad toy they can find.
Thanks again for this opportunity to share something exciting in my life!!
Andrea
