Ideas for Use

Editable Flash Cards - Suggestions for Use

  • This template is all set up for you just to add your own words. Just delete the words we have placed in there and replace them with your own words.

  • We have used 'comic sans' font in these because it is the most 'universal' which means it is on most computers and is the closest to most 'school' fonts. If you have your own school fonts on your computer just pop your words in and change to your font. (if you are a parent, ask your school for a copy of their handwriting font for your computer, otherwise 'comic sans' is really very good.)

  • Highlight or make the phonics sounds within the words a different colour.

  • You can also change the colour of the border if you like by clicking on 'format' at top of page and then 'borders and spacing'.

  • Terrific as practice for spelling words - set this up so children can type and print out their own spelling lists. Also ask them to highlight the phonic sounds for recognition practice..

  • Ideal for use with '101 Ways to Use Word Cards' document (We are actually in the process of updating this document into activity cards).

  • Print them onto card and laminate - print them any size - make them smaller if you like using your printer settings - ideal for take home sheets - explore your options...

  • Make them into spelling word booklets similar to our theme word booklets.

  • MORE GENERAL IDEAS FOR USING FLASHCARDS / WORD CARDS - NOT JUST LOOK AND SAY

  • Now go and have FUN with your printable flash cards / flashcards - not just 'look and say' but look and play, explore, match, copy, circle, order, list, and heaps more...cheers

  • I saw an interesting post on Pinterest the other day, showing a plastic, sandwich size, zip-lock bag that had had a piece of duct tape run along the base. The duct tape provided reinforcing that allowed holes to be punched through the bag for storage in a binder. I imagine you could run the tape down the side of larger zip-lock bags for a similar effect. This may not solve all your storage issues, but if there\'s just a few small games to go with a unit that\'s otherwise stored in a binder, it might help!

  • I was just thinking the other day that I needed some matching cards for numbers over 100 then today I came across the new parts of speech posters and thought I\'d check out the \"What\'s New\" section and there I found exactly what I had been wanting. Thank you so much for your wonderful resources. This is the first place I check when looking for resources and I\'ve been able to build a great collection since moving to the lower school grades last year. Thanks again!
