Prac Teaching and Teaching in the UK

by Amanda
(NSW - Australia)

At the moment I am on a four week practicum. This is my final year and I am finding it amazing how fast the last three years have gone as well as where my future will lead me.

Prac this year has been really great! I have attended the same school once a week since the first day of school. This having given me the chance to see how learning is structured and the classroom set up at the beginning of the year.

Another great part of attending the class and students weekly is seeing the constant growth of all the students. From Kindergarten last year to Year one in 2008, I have been able to see how far they are coming along. This is a real treasure for a university prac student because generally we only see the progress over a four week block and do not see any other developments.

I am employable as of September 2008 and will be looking for contract work during term 4. I also am researching different opportunities in the UK as I have continued education straight from school to uni without any GAP years.

I would love to hear any advice or tips about working and living in the UK.
