Poor Language Skills

As a kindergarten teacher I am finding that more and more children are coming to school without the prerequisite skills needed to enable them to learn as quickly as the curriculum demands.
This is especially true in the language area. Strong language skills are the foundation of good readers and writers. If children do not come to school with these skills then they struggle to keep up and this is unfair on everyone.
