Open, shut them...

by Kerry
(Halls Creek, WA)

Open, shut them
Open, shut them...
Give a little clap.
Open, shut them
Open, shut them...
Lay them in your lap.
Creep them, creep them, creep them, creep them
right up to your chin...
Open wide your little mouth ~
but do not let them in!

I do this song with my kindy kids as a warm up exercise to get those little fingers, hands and brain into gear straight after roll call.
We sometimes do it fast/quick, slow, quite/soft and loud.

They love it!!! Not only are they having to listen to instructions but they have to remember what they have already done and what the other options are too :)

Actions
~ the actions for lines 1 and 2 the hands open and shut to the beat
~ give a little clap... one clap
~ repeat actions for lines 4 and 5
~ lay them in your lap... place hands in lap
~ creep them... crawl the hands/fingers slowly up to the chin
~ open wide your little mouth - open mouth, fingers on chin
~ but do not let them in - scurry hands behind your back
