*Teaching Tip Time... Alternative Homework Ideas... Homework is always a very sensitive subject in K-3. There are positive and negative aspects to both sides of the homework debate. I personally believe that a small amount of homework can help prepare children for the more challenging homework tasks of future school years. It can also help to open up lines of communication between home and school. Again, I think common sense prevails here - homework does not need to be over the top at this age. I found this website recently which in my opinion is absolutely brilliant for alternative homework ideas for K-3. http://www.teachersnetwork.org/dcs/homeworkhotline/intro/directory.htm These weekly homework projects are both interesting and educational. This is definitely what I would be using in K-3. Would love to hear your views.... DO YOU HAVE MORE GREAT HOMEWORK IDEAS? - PLEASE SHARE THEM HERE
