Download Multiplication Cards       Multiplication Flashcards Ideas for use... Use the multiplication language cards (groups of) before moving on to the multiplication symbol cards. Print and laminate for long term use.  Print on to different coloured card to separate levels, or processes, for example,  addition, subtraction, division.  Have them all set up in containers for children or teachers to grab at any time. This resource also includes spare blank cards for you to write on extra number sentences. OK, these cards are then great for all sorts of multiplication games and activities.  They are particularly useful as a 'constant' during daily maths activity / task time. Use the laminated numeral cards to represent the final answers to the number sentences. Make smaller copies for children to cut and paste into their maths books.  Children then draw a pictorial representation of each number sentence. As with the addition / subtraction relationship - at a later stage you could also introduce the relationship between multiplication and division.  Reverse the multiplication games to create division equations.  For example, after making 6 groups of 3 popsticks to make 18,  use this set up to create 18 shared by 6 is 3 each. Use with our Tree Equations task kit (see section on ideas for multiplication) Children find all the number sentences which equal a particular number.  Use the numeral cards - choose a numeral, children then find all the equation cards which equal this numeral. Use string, small hoops, or plates to create the 'groups' template.  Then use objects, counters, anything really to represent the number sentences.  Here are some more examples.... 'plastic' food grouped onto paper plates - you could also make a cooking session out of this using real food. connecting plastic blocks, unifix cubes, can also make 'rows' instead of 'groups' - great for grid work. popsticks standing in sand or play dough. popsticks grouped by rubber bands. beads threaded on string grouped by colours/ sizes / shapes. glue coloured toothpicks, pasta, stickers etc. circle the groups. circle or colour in a number line to represent groups.  You could start with colouring empty boxes without the numbers - then children add the numbers after colouring.... 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 4 x 2 8 Use grid paper - children colour in 'rows' for 'groups' would need lots of modelling initially.
