Movies in the Classroom

by Eileen Rosario
(Virginia, USA)

During this last trimester of class, my 3rd and 4th grade classes watched the movie "Nocturna", A magical adventure".

This is a movie from Spain, in Spanish (it can also be purchased in English)that won the Goya Award for the best movie Animation.

It is a beautiful movie about the night and the fears that children face when the night comes and everything is dark. It's about a boy named Tim. I recommend this movie to everyone. It's just "magical".

My Spanish classes learned about the characters of the story, how to describe them, and their importance to the story.

I believe that technology in the classroom is remarkable, if used properly. Movies are part of technology. I made Bingo games with the characters of Nocturna; other powerpoint presentations and games so students can have fun while learning the vocabulary.

This is the fifth movie we've watched this school year. They are part of my Thematic Units for the school year and my students love them.
