Morning welcome- PREP

by jeanie
(qld)

Doors open at 8.40
This session takes about 15-20 mins all up, and covers a lot of areas incidentally.
Children collect name tags from wall and sit in circle on the carpet.

We sing song "Good morning everyone"with guitar, then roll the song/rhyme dice for another to say or sing.

Roll is sung and children reply in song 'Good morning-----'

Leader is chosen for the day who then collects the name tags.
Leader then counts boys, then girls.
We use magnetic buttons on magnetic easel to show number of boys/ girls in a line, then we compare the two lines. Are there more boys/girls ?etc
How many more?
How many altogether?

Then we do our class calendar where children have a turn to cross off day and colour in a weather bar graph (Basic sunny, windy, rainy, cloudy)
At end of each week/month we look at graph and answer a few questions.

We then sing Days of the week song, or a number rhyme song.

This is followed by five mins of brain gym, crossing midline exercises, running on the spot etc

Then leader or I choose a story to begin the day.
