Morning Sign In Book
Have a 'sign in' book at the classroom entrance.
Place a column with all the children's names written correctly on one side of a page and a column next to this with enough room for the children to write their names or 'sign in'. The amount of space you allow on the page would depend on at what stage your children are at.
It is lovely to keep this book for the whole year and observe the improvement in the children's handwriting.
It is also a good idea to use a ring binder, where pages can be taken out and placed at a few 'stations' so that all the children are not trying to 'sign in' at once.
To follow up, one child could gather up the 'sign in' book each day and use it to 'Welcome' everyone as the roll is marked.
You could also add the Day and Date as the children progressed.
