- GENERAL IDEAS FOR USING OUR NURSERY RHYMES, POEMS AND SONGS HERE
- Make up an interesting facts concept book about the 'kookaburra'.
- Listen to the tune HERE - This song is especially good when sung as a 'round'.
- Work in with Australia theme - Australian words, and Australian animals..
- Discuss the long 'e' (tree and me) sound and the many ways it is represented - 'ee', 'e', 'ea', 'ie' 'y' - brainstorm and list other long 'e' words to match 'tree' and 'me' from the song.
- Again, print (larger onto A3 if you like), laminate, cut and pop into your song / poem box (see general link above for more activities)
- Don't forget to really make the most of these poems / songs and put your detective hats on to search for rhyming words, circle phonic sounds, play 'find the word' games, look for question marks and other structures, lots of 'playing with words' - it's great fun to find all the word/letter patterns in poems and nursery rhymes.
