Kindergarten News

Hi, I teach kindergarten in an esl school. Every Monday morning all the children in the class get to tell me something they did on the weekend - On the weekend I.........
I ask them questions about it as well. Every child has to listen to the others speak. It's short and sweet.
I don't do news days as the children all bring in toys and really can't tell you much about them.
Later in the year I have news groups. I divide the class into groups and give each child 1 or 2 minutes to tell their group their news. They can ask questions etc as well. After the time I say 'change' and the next person gets to talk and so on.
I also have a news book where I select 1 or 2 children a week and write their news item and they then illustrate it.
It's all pretty basic.
The children are always free to tell me and the class about something.
