IWB resources for Primary Classrooms
Submitted by Amanda (09-11-2012)
I am currently learning to use IWB in the primary classroom setting. Can anyone suggest any FREE IWB sites, resources or games? I would really appreciate your assistance as I am finding that I'm spending more time looking for resources than actually using the IWB productively.

With a year one class we played What's the Time Mr Wolf - but instead of the wolf (myself) calling out 'It's one o'clock!" I used a clock with moveable hands.

I was just thinking the other day that I needed some matching cards for numbers over 100 then today I came across the new parts of speech posters and thought I\'d check out the \"What\'s New\" section and there I found exactly what I had been wanting. Thank you so much for your wonderful resources. This is the first place I check when looking for resources and I\'ve been able to build a great collection since moving to the lower school grades last year. Thanks again!

www.interactivewhiteboard.net.au
Has links to User Groups also (free PD!)
Go to:
www.mathsbuilder.com.au
It is for K-6 children.
Choose to log in as a school. You and the staff you work with can have free download and access to the maths builder program and interactive resources until the end of the year 2010, after that it is by subscription.
This site is new, user friendly and supported by text books and teacher's reference books as well.
Enjoy! My little K/1 class love it!!

I would recommend looking at UK websites before anything from the US as they are about 8-9 years ahead of them in using IWBs in their schools.
A fantastic site is www.communication4all.co.uk is a really useful site with ready made and easily downloadable resources. UK is fantastic!
Just found this great free site for IWB.....

Cheers
Hi if you're a teacher in NSW with ID and password access to DET portal, you can get into TaLE - Teaching and Learning Exchange. It has lots of resources and you can download a catalogue from the Learning Federation to use in relation to the TaLE site. I think you can also log in as a parent too.
Hope this helps!
I love this website for free games...
http://www.topmarks.co.uk/Interactive.aspx
its a UK site, but offers a great range of activities. My students love it!
Also the smart kiddies website that someone else mentioned is excellent!
There are sooooooooooooo many activities from around the world at the smart website

I have found these a great inspiration and so have my children
Have a look at www.ictgames.com - they have some great literacy and numeracy games for younger children.
Don't you just love your smartboard. I joined SMARTKIDDIES (free for teachers) and my kids (year 1) love the activities. My husband also uses it for his Year 5.
Teacherresourcesgalore.com have some free notebook pages as well, I love the daily noticeboards. I modified them to suit my class.
My kids remind me to do this daily and insist on having me write down who has had a turn so no-one misses out. They also have some other pages as well.
If you are in NSW, curric support have some excellent resources to support COGs and all KLA's.
Copacabana PS has GET SMART, 1000's of IWB pages.
Have fun.

A few websites my grade ones use are:
www.beenleigss.eq.edu.au (good on line stories)
Google: copacabana public school- then go to Get Smart.
www.primaryresources.co.uk
Recently started using this site after a colleague at school put me onto it. There are heaps of games & activities to use in all curriculum areas. My Receptions found it quite easy to navigate. The address is :
http://tes.iboard.co.uk/player/index.htm
Top Marks in the Uk has some great IWB resources especially for maths. Just google Top Marks UK and you should be able to find it.
promethean planet has great flipcharts for all grades. you do have to have a membership. what grade do you teach I teach kinder.
I have created a wiki where I post resources for our Early Childhood teachers to use on their SMART Boards. Most of these activities are available to use on any IWB, our district is a SMART district, so that is how I labelled the wiki. Maybe this will help. :)
www.smartboardforecteachers.wikispaces.com
It is a wiki, so anyone can add to it! :)
