Guided Reading Activities for Prep
by Jeanette
In my prep class each child has a small A5 tick sheet that they mark off when they complete an activity.
I usually have 9 activities for the 20 students to work through over 2 one hour sessions. The students move through the activities at their own pace (I have an assistant and 2 parents helpers who either stay with a particular activity or roam)
I am then free to call students for guided reading with me. My guided reading groups can vary from week to week depending on what I am targeting.
This approach works well for me, there is a bit of training to do at the start of the year but it is worth it.
