Getting to know you - Circle Fun

One way for students to get to know each other better on the first day is a drama game that involves a little action! This game has children hearing each others names, learning a little about what they like and guessing the action!
This game can be played outside or inside.
Students stand in a circle. Model an example for yourself then begin with a confident child.
How to Play: Each child in turn takes a big step forward into the circle and says: "My name is ____ and I like (mime the action e.g. swimming, drawing, riding a bike, playing with Lego).
The students have to guess what the action is. The acting student keeps doing the action until the correct answer has been given or the teacher asks the student to tell the answer. Suit yourself as to whether you want answers to be called out (more exciting, spontaneous and loud) or children to use hands up (slower, quieter but more controlled).
As each action is guessed, the 'actor' steps back into the circle and the next child steps forward.
Any child who is too shy to do an action, can have the teacher do the action with them.
