Getting back into the swing of things!

What a hectic start to the year! I was fortunate to have attended the Australian Government Summer School for Teachers of Literacy and Numeracy, held at the University of Wollongong over two weeks in the January holidays.

Wow! What an experience. Apart from hearing some great speakers and participating in some useful workshops, I had the privilege of meeting and working with some of Australia's best teachers.

The exchange of ideas was amazing. What works, what doesn't work, strategies to try with that student you just can't reach, have you heard about this and that.

There was just so much to do and learn, even for us oldies who have been around a while! I hope to share some of what I learned with you throughout the year.

My start to the year has been busy as I in-service my own school staff and implement some new strategies to improve literacy and numeracy skills in our students.

I'll share our techniques, strategies, ideas and outcomes as the year progresses.

Could you please share some of the strategies you learnt from summer school
by: Sarah

Hi Sue, It sounds like the summer school was amazing. I would love to hear more about it. In particular some of the literacy and numeracy stratgies that were mentioned there. Thank you, Sarah
