Ideas for Use


  • I was inspired to commission this little poster after reading Angela Maiers 'Nurturing Genius'blog post and asking permission from Angela.

  • Teacher, Kelly Sigler was also inspired by Angela, and took on the challenge of nurturing genius within her Year 1 classroom (before she went on leave to have a little 'genius' of her own!)

  • Kelly started by asking her 'little geniuses' what they thought 'genius' meant - a great place to start as 'genius' does NOT only mean exceptionally good at academics etc!!! it is different for each person (their strengths, gifts)

  • On her blog Kelly lets us in on her genius teaching journey and how she now calls her Year 1's - her little 'Readers and Writers' rather than Year 1's.

  • On her journey, Kelly also has a genius focus word each day - words such as vital, wise and inventive.

  • Works well with Printable Genius Book following Kelly's prompts of 'I am a genius because........... The world need me to ..............'

  • Children create their own 'genius poster' to place around the school.

  • I saw an interesting post on Pinterest the other day, showing a plastic, sandwich size, zip-lock bag that had had a piece of duct tape run along the base. The duct tape provided reinforcing that allowed holes to be punched through the bag for storage in a binder. I imagine you could run the tape down the side of larger zip-lock bags for a similar effect. This may not solve all your storage issues, but if there\'s just a few small games to go with a unit that\'s otherwise stored in a binder, it might help!

  • I was just thinking the other day that I needed some matching cards for numbers over 100 then today I came across the new parts of speech posters and thought I\'d check out the \"What\'s New\" section and there I found exactly what I had been wanting. Thank you so much for your wonderful resources.
