Family Matters - a parenting tool

by Anne-Marie
(US)

Hi,

I enjoy this site but haven't had anything to contribute until now.

I stumbled on an interesting application for my iPhone that I thought might be of interest.

We are busy but we love our kids and we were struggling with ideas when we were not at home. For instance in a restaurant the kids would get fidgety waiting for the meal and we would resort to letting them bury themselves in their video games.

I stumbled on this application on Apple's iTunes that kind of helps with this. It is called Family Matters and it suggests some simple but fun family activities based on your locale. For instance while waiting in the doctors office you can ask your child health-related questions that calm them down and adds a little fun to the visit.

It appears the questions are open ended and most activities are silly but seem to encourage participation and build confidence but some are richer and may help you learn something new about your child's inner thoughts. For instance I learned my seven year old is afraid of the dark.

Our children enjoy it and I thought others might too.

You can just search iTunes for Family Matters to learn more.
