Dolch Nouns Word Cards - Suggestions for Use

  • work really well with our Concept Book - 'I can see a......' and 'Here is a....''  and   'Look at the....'

  • we would learn 1-2 of these words per week.

  • 101 Ways to Use Word Cards...  says it all !!!!

  • use in general writing reference.

  • have fun with adding adjectives in front of words. (adjective, noun, verb, adverb)

  • great for first simple sentences - have on display for children to fill in appropriate noun into simple sentences...eg. look at the........ in the tree.

  • make up smaller black and white copies, children cut out words, paste and draw pictures to match.

  • Use the nouns for reference when completing 'My Alphabet Book' concept book.

  • I believe with report writing, it's important to not generalise or be too 'flowery' in the comments. As a parent, I appreciate knowing which skills/areas my children need strengthening in. So as a rule of thumb - when it comes to report writing - I always start with a positive, then I mention an area that the student needs further development in and then I finish off on a high with another positive. Works a treat!

  • Great site. I downloaded lots of resources when I taught year 1. However, I cannot find much for Year 3 and I was looking forward to it. Could you please upload more for stage 2. Thanks

  • There are about 11 or 12 spelling choices for the speech sound sssss, so look at the THRASS resource chart. Not all there. It has left my child bored, and being told to learn the charts which still don't help him to spell the words he wants to spell, and is always being told its a catchall. A thumbs down for me too. Ken
