Country Show Vocabulary Theme Words - Suggestions for Use

  • GENERAL IDEAS FOR STORING AND USING THEME WORD CARDS

  • Country Show Concept Book coming early next week..

  • Brainstorm more Country Show words as a class - add to list gradually. Each region around the world has different country show highlights - add your own special region's country show highlights.

  • Discuss the different types of 'shows' , 'fairs' held around the world - children organise their own 'Class Country Show' - invite other classes, parents and friends to share the day.

  • You can make these words smaller size by using the reduction settings on your printer and just printing off black and white copies, these smaller sizes are great for cut and paste activities such as cutting out the words and pasting them in alphabetical order.

  • All the activities from '101 Ways to Use Word Cards' are fantastic with these country show vocabulary words..
(DON'T FORGET TO UTILIZE THIS FANTASTIC RESOURCE)

  • Make a jigsaw puzzle.  Make up a second set of cards, cut the picture section off using a zigzag or curve cut like a jigsaw (you can even cut through the word to make it more of a challenge)  Children then match the 2 or more pieces.   Also great for breaking up syllables or blends within words.

  • I saw an interesting post on Pinterest the other day, showing a plastic, sandwich size, zip-lock bag that had had a piece of duct tape run along the base. The duct tape provided reinforcing that allowed holes to be punched through the bag for storage in a binder. I imagine you could run the tape down the side of larger zip-lock bags for a similar effect. This may not solve all your storage issues, but if there\'s just a few small games to go with a unit that\'s otherwise stored in a binder, it might help!

  • I was just thinking the other day that I needed some matching cards for numbers over 100 then today I came across the new parts of speech posters and thought I\'d check out the \"What\'s New\" section and there I found exactly what I had been wanting. Thank you so much for your wonderful resources. This is the first place I check when looking for resources and I\'ve been able to build a great collection since moving to the lower school grades last year. Thanks again!
