  • HOW TO USE CONCEPT BOOKS

  • Work in with the matching Jack and Jill rhyme as a type of 'cloze' activity using the rhyme as a base....OR....

  • After many sessions on the 'Jack and Jill' poem, use this concept book to build your own poem as a class and individually......
    Brainstorm and list all the appropriate words which could replace the traditional words, for example, list the class names into boys and girls and use to replace Jack and Jill....
    ....list other words instead of 'hill' - for example 'street', 'road', 'mountain'...
    ....to fetch a pail of 'sugar', 'berries' etc etc....
    *Children then use these lists as reference to make up their own version....
