Classroom Self Esteem - I like Jack because.... Book

Call this what you like. It could coincide with your school awards or class awards or even a child who needs a special pick me up.

Each child in the class gets a sheet of paper. They write a sentence about something they like about the "Star" or focus child, for example, I like _______ because.......

They then draw a picture and the class makes it into a book which is then read to the child.The child has a whole book of positives about themselves!

Makes a child feel very special.

A fantastic idea and, so much better than all that cheap $2 junk you see so much of in the classrooms these days (bits of plastic and lollies have headed my pet hate award for years).
I'm a great believer in craft and student made gifts, you can always tie them into an educational outcome and they are treasured far more than commercial products - especially by grannies like me - and the kids have a record of their class friends for years to come as well as the self concept aspect of the exercise.

 Great book for birthdays

This would be a great activity for the class to complete for a child's birthday. Have each student in the class fill in the blanks for the birthday child and bind into a book for them to take home on their special day.
For summer birthdays, you could complete it on their 'unbirthday.'
