Classroom Discipline Plans - All Cashed Up

I am currently completing my prac in a year three classroom. Part of my assessment is to implement a numeracy unit. As with most students they needed more experiences with money. Therefore as part of my unit I implemented a money system with the first week consisting of $1, $2, and 50c.
The students receive 'clipart' type money to glue onto a sheet on their desk and have to collect $10.00 to receive a prize. I have a variety of balls, stickers etc. the usual prizes.
However I have also included mini-teacher for the day, computer time and sit near a friend for the day. So far all the students have selected mini-teacher. Even the shy students! It has given them such a huge boost in their self esteem and are also keen to give money to students that they observe working well.
Week 2 is a little harder - with students needing $1.50 in 5c, 10c, and 20c. The third week I have used a mixture to $5.00. It has worked very well and even the students that are usually disengaged are keen to add up their money and tell me exactly how much more they need to trade.
