Calendar and Weather Book - Suggestions for Use

  • HOW TO USE CONCEPT BOOKS

  • Weather Chart Symbols in this booklet are now also available as downloadable images to use on IWB and for 'Weather Reporter' props -(please remember there is strict copyright on these images, thanks)

  • The calendar can be used for any month and any year. Children learn to start that month on the correct day and fill in the calendar dates from there each day.

  • Just print off the number of individual pages (page 2) you need. You might like to do this for as short as one week, one month or all year round.

  • Use as both individual booklets as well as copy an A3 size one to record as a class.

  • Place the pdf copy on the IWB - fill in the calendar and weather report each day - print out each day to make into a class book.

  • Instead of making into a book - use the pages to form a time-line, staple the pages sideways to make a line. Don't forget you can make your pages a smaller size to print 4 in 1 - instructions here...

  • Don't forget to make an A3 size copy as class book or time-line as well - great for modelling before children tackle their own copies.

  • I saw an interesting post on Pinterest the other day, showing a plastic, sandwich size, zip-lock bag that had had a piece of duct tape run along the base. The duct tape provided reinforcing that allowed holes to be punched through the bag for storage in a binder. I imagine you could run the tape down the side of larger zip-lock bags for a similar effect. This may not solve all your storage issues, but if there\'s just a few small games to go with a unit that\'s otherwise stored in a binder, it might help!

  • I was just thinking the other day that I needed some matching cards for numbers over 100 then today I came across the new parts of speech posters and thought I\'d check out the \"What\'s New\" section and there I found exactly what I had been wanting. Thank you so much for your wonderful resources. This is the first place I check when looking for resources and I\'ve been able to build a great collection since moving to the lower school grades last year. Thanks again!
