One Small Change Project Week 3

one small change 3

Ahhhh - half way through the year here in Australia (well Queensland anyway)....holidays are calling !!!

How did last week go with finding your children's strengths

Did you come up with any surprises?  Life with children is certainly full of surprises - we would love to hear more about any strengths that you uncovered HERE and any plans to build upon them !

Many schools are on holidays at the moment - or are leading up to holidays - so this week we are looking towards refreshing and rebuilding our personal energy for the new term or if you are in UK or US - the coming of the new school year.

Nothing too heavy this week - as you wind down -reflect on why you became a teacher and write down at least 3 student learning-focused goals or responses to the following....

As your Teacher - I will always do my best to ......

When you return to school next term - display this and discuss with your students - your responsibilities as their teacher.

Then it is your students' turn - discuss as a class or even see what your kiddies come up with on their own first.

As your Student/s - I / We will always do my/our best to.....

  • I extend the YES/ NO game by printing the DOLCH words (small print) ,cutting up the lists and laminating them & including them in the YES /NO packet. Use a blank card to put ?'s about these words e.g. how many times can you find these words in Chapter 2? Chn. list the results on a whiteboard.

  • The Sea words are great to add to the Lighthouse series books when you are doing these books with the children. you could extend the theme to the sea and then to pirates and far away lands and maybe even first contact explorers of Australia.

  • Dear Donna, thanks so much for doing these, i remember when i asked for these last year when i was teaching my special ed kids, im now at another school in NW WA and they will be just as useful in the two classes im now teaching, (Year 3 and Year 4), as the kids here arent necessarily up to the rest of the ozzie kids out there.
