Beginning Teaching

Please share Beginning Teacher / Relief Experiences and Support.....we would love to see and read about.....

  • The first year of teaching can be a wonderful (busy) experience.
  • I was fortunate to have a wonderful teaching mentor for my first year. Initially, I basically aligned my program with hers. As I felt more comfortable with my own teaching, and grew in confidence, I was able to begin to express my own 'teaching style'.
  • It is really important to observe and ask questions. Please don't expect perfection particularly in your first year out.
  • Growth comes from being brave enough to try new things, throw out those that didn't work and move on and up with the ones that did.....

Experienced teachers - we would love for you to .....

  • answer questions (bottom of page)
  • contribute advice for new teachers
  • recommend books, teacher resources and websites.
  • contribute ideas for substitute teachers

New teachers - - we would love for you to .....

  • contribute and answer questions
  • contribute advice for new teachers
  • recommend books, teacher resources and websites that have helped you in your first year of teaching.

  • I was just thinking the other day that I needed some matching cards for numbers over 100 then today I came across the new parts of speech posters and thought I\'d check out the \"What\'s New\" section and there I found exactly what I had been wanting. Thank you so much for your wonderful resources. This is the first place I check when looking for resources and I\'ve been able to build a great collection since moving to the lower school grades last year. Thanks again!
