Alphabet Song

by Donna

Make up theme alphabet songs using the original alphabet song tune.

Instead of singing a b c d e f g etc, replace the letters with theme words beginning with that letter.

For example, for a zoo animal theme - sing the alphabet song using aardvark, bear, camel, duck, elephant, fox, goat, etc.

One or two syllable words are easier to use, and if you simply cannot find a word for a certain letter of the alphabet just sing the letter.

A lot of fun for littlies - the older children can also do this in groups and perform it in rap style.

Great for assemblies also.

A different take on the Alphabet song
by: Liz

Hi, I like the idea of ABC theme words sung to the ABC song, I will try it with our Christmas theme. To improve the association between letter name and sound, I get my Pre-primary (WA) to sing the letter sound to the ABC song. It really makes them think and I believe has improved their phonetic awareness.
