A very late hello (apologies), and a big warm Welcome to our New Members, we now have reached the 400 Members mark and I truly hope our resources are helping each and every Member. We have had a huge month with our entire membership base being moved over to a new system. I hope you have all received our email explaining the new system. *Teaching Tip Time... Sharing Circle At least once a day we would enjoy a whole class sharing circle. This was a great informal way to allow children to practise their speaking and listening skills. There are a few different ways these can be organised - here are a few I have used in the past and have worked successfully. Whole class sharing, in a circle, each child stands and shows his chosen completed work, and explains one aspect of it which he/she enjoyed, learned, found tricky.
(MY FAVOURITE!) After a completed activity, the teacher informally shows each child's work and praises each child for a specific aspect of their work. This worked really well for self esteem. It also was fantastic for pointing out specific teaching points to reinforce. For example, 'I really like the way Mary has remembered to write all the names in her story using a beginning Capital letter.'
