*Exciting New Concept -'K-3 Teachers Zone'

Thank You to our fabulous 3 Members who have started us off with some terrific introductory submissions.  We look forward to hearing more about your Teaching Journeys.

We have had many other Teachers sign up and are awaiting their first submissions with much anticipation.  If you have signed up and not yet submitted why not just drop us a quick first submission today - don't forget they don't have to be long submissions and often before you know it, you are off and running.  Submissions can be a great way to reflect and consolidate your own Teaching / Classroom goals.  (Please note: If we have not received a first submission from you after 1 month we will very sadly need to take your profile page down to make room for others, thanks!, please let me know if you did not receive your confirmation email)

Also, it is great for our 'Zonees' to receive feedback, so please drop in a comment in the box after reading their submissions to encourage them.

But, we would love YOU to become a 'Zonee' and share your teaching journey with us all - pictures of your classroom set up, what you are doing in your classroom, what has worked, what has not worked - it all goes towards helping our Teaching Community and it's fun to participate.  We have hundreds of teachers from all over the world visit our site everyday and view our Teachers (your) submissions.

*Teaching Tip Time...

Using ANY Flashcards to play 'Bingo'....at ANY time....

Bingo boards can be made by the children at any time.  Decide how many sections you need on each board.  For example 8 sections is usually a good amount.  Each child has a blank A4 piece of paper.  Ask them to fold the paper in half - 3 times and press the folds well.  Undo the paper so that the 8 sections are showing from the folds.  (This can all be changed depending on the ages of the children, for example older children may cope with 16 sections, younger children may only need 4 sections.)

OK, now choose the flashcards you want to use in the Bingo Game - usually the ones you are focussing on in your program at that time.  As a rule of thumb you usually need at least 2 times the number of sections you have on the Bingo Boards.  So if you have 8 Bingo Board sections, you need at least 16 different flashcards.

Pop these flashcards up where they can easily be seen, and ask the children to copy 8 different flashcards, one in each section on their A4 page.

Each child should now have their own unique bingo board.

You can now go ahead a play Bingo by calling out the 'flashcards' - children then can put a cross on their sheet, or you can use counters.

Winners can be first to make a row, or for younger children with only 4 on a page - first to have all of their 'flashcards' crossed.

Don't forget 'Flashcards' can be anything reallyWord flashcards, number sentence flashcards with the answer being called out,  alphabet flashcards with a word or picture beginning with that letter being shown or called out.  There are so many uses for this great little Bingo activity.

This activity is also really great for group work.

I also used this a lot when supply teaching - great impromptu activity.

Hope this helps...Cheers
